Marry in cool contemporary elegance within Smiths at Gretna Green or within the ancient building of the World Famous Old Blacksmith’s Shop.

Arranging your wedding ceremony with us is straightforward and involves three easy steps: choose the venue, pick the date and decide on the style of ceremony.

We will guide you through each step:

Choose Your Venue

We will describe to you in more detail what your options are but briefly you have four choices: the marriage room within Smiths at Gretna Green or one of the three marriage rooms within the World Famous Old Blacksmith’s Shop: the Original Marriage Room, the Saddlery Room and the Rennison Room.

Choose Your Date

We will advise you what dates are available and reserve a provisional date for you. Provisional bookings are held for a fortnight.

Religious or Civil Ceremony?

The choice is yours. We will arrange for a civil marriage celebrant or a minister to conduct your ceremony on receipt of your venue booking fee. The choice between civil or religious ceremony is entirely down to your own personal preference and we will help and advise you if you are unsure.

Marriage Schedule

Both you and your partner will need to complete an M10 Form for the Registrars to create your Marriage Schedule. We will send these out to you with our confirmation letter.

The earliest you can submit your M10 Forms is 3 months before the date of your marriage or at the latest, three weeks before.

Please note these documents must be forwarded to the Gretna Registrars. We can help you with most queries relating to the M10 Form but we are not qualified on legal matters relating to your marriage. On legal queries we advise you to contact the Registrars direct on 01461 337648.

Venue Fees for 2008

We are conscious of how expensive a wedding day can be. We are committed not only to offering a unique environment for your day but also to offering genuinely good value.

The venue fee includes witnesses should you require them and a commemorative gift to celebrate your day.

Smiths Hotel
Smiths Marriage Room: up to £300.00
Smiths Penthouse Balcony: (including your overnight stay) £665.00

World Famous Old Blacksmith’s Shop Marriage Rooms
Sunday to Thursday: £195.00
Friday and Saturday: £210.00
(Valentine’s Day, Christmas Eve and Hogmanay £265.00)
Blessings over the legendary Anvil: £ 75.00

Ceremony Fees

Civil Marriage Celebrant Fees (payable to the Gretna Registrars direct with your M10 Form)
Weekdays: £207.00
Saturday: £287.00
Sundays & Public Holidays: £328.00
(Includes the fee for your Marriage Schedule)

Religious Marriage Fees
There is a separate fee for the minister. The fee for your Marriage Schedule is £100.00
